Kokrajhar, Oct. 10: The Apollo Group of Hospitals has set up a telemedicine centre at Rupnath Brahma civil hospital in Kokrajhar.
The centre, first of its kind in lower Assam and third in the state, will bring benefits of hi-tech medicines for patients who travel to Delhi and Chennai for health check-ups.
The telemedicine centre will use telecommunication and information technologies in order to provide clinical healthcare at a distance.
The centre will facilitate healthcare by providing specialised consultancy service by doctors of leading hospitals of the country and will help the patients sitting in front of a hi-tech system to interact audio-visually with them.
It also has facilities for telemedicine/video conferring consultancy with the doctors of Apollo Hospitals.
"This modern healthcare tool can send any medical report like X-rays, ultrasound, CT scan, ECG reports of patients to the consultant for diagnosis," said S.N. Farid of the centre in Kokrajhar.
The centre will provide services like ECG and all kinds of blood tests, all information regarding treatment and facilities of Apollo Hospitals, fixing appointment with the doctors of the hospitals before departure, arranging ambulance pick-up for serious patients from the railway station or airport at destination, assisting patients in taking advices/second opinion and post-treatment follow-up cases through telemedicine.
