Gujarat Congress chief lashes out Modi for meeting with RSS leaders

Ahmedabad, Oct.23 (ANI): Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhwadia has criticized

ate Chief Minister Narendra Modi for meeting with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, but welcomed his meeting with Britain's High Commissioner to India Sir James Bevan.

Modhwadia claimed that Modi had met the RSS leadership over the weekend to stave off pposition from within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

"To overcome its own political problems in wake of the revolt like situation in the Bharatiya Janata Party, Narendra Modi went to Nagpur to seek the help of RSS leaders.

The people of the state will wonder what are his intentions," said Modhwadia.

Modi, however, denies that his meetings in Nagpur were politically motivated or inclined.

Modhwadia also accused Modi of using God's name to fulfill his political aspirations.

"Be it Lord Rama or any other god or any spiritual leader like Vivekananda or late freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Bharatiya Janata Party and Narendra Modi uses each one for its political ambitions and reap benefits out of it," said Modhwadia.

Commenting on his meeting with British High Commissioner James Bevan, he said that he meet is not controversial but aimed at strengthening cultural ties.

"British High Commissioner James Bevan is scheduled to meet Narendra Modi and me s well. This is not something controversial; it is not so he is taking any sides. This is a ormal meeting," said Modhwadia. (ANI)
