Gopi gets Saina's support

Hyderabad: Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal Wednesday stood by her coach Pullela Gopichand, who had been accused of 'mental harassment' by doubles specialist Prajakta Sawant, stating that she is totally 'unaware' about "how these things are coming out."

"I am standing here today as world No 3. I would like to thank Gopi Sir for where I am today. I don't know from where all these things are coming " Saina said.

Prajakta had moved the Bombay High Court Tuesday, accusing the chief national coach of "mental harassment" after she was denied entry into the national coaching camp at Gopichand's academy in Hyderabad.

Berlin: Uzbek wrestler Soslan Tigiev has been stripped of the bronze he won at the London Olympics after testing positive for a banned substance, the International Olympic Committee said. Tigiev, who was third in the men's freestyle 74kg category, tested positive for methylhexaneamine after his fight on August 10 against Hungary's Gabor Hatos who will now be awarded the bronze.

New Delhi: India are in the running to host the 2015 World Wrestling Championship ahead of the next Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

"We have bid for the 2015 Men's World Wrestling Championship," Wrestling Federation of India secretary general Raj Singh said. "If we get the hosting rights, the championship will be held at Delhi's Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium " Singh added.
