'Gandhi's Three Monkeys' made by Indian artist installed at cultural village in Qatar

Qatar, May 29 (ANI): Three sculptures of Mahatma Gandhi's three monkeys made by Indian artist Subodh Gupta have been installed at Katara, the Cultural village in Qatar.

The sculptures 'Gandhi's Three Monkeys', 2008, are made from bronze, steel and old utensils, Gulf News reports.

The three monkeys 'See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil', are portrayed as three heads in military headgear.

Using worn brass utensils, the various forms of a soldier's helmet, a terrorist's hood and a gas mask, Gupta has tried to show war and peace, public and private, and global and local, themes.

"We are very proud to have installed Subbodh Gupta's Three Monkeys in Katara," Mansoor Al Khater, Qatar Museums Authority (QMA) Chief Executive Officer, said.

"Subodh is a world renowned artist and this strong statement of peace couldn t be installed in a better location. It also illustrated QMA's continued collaboration with Katara. We are grateful for their shared enthusiasm for the arts," he added. (ANI)
