Gadkari tries to end Karnataka power struggle

Bangalore, Feb 24 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Nitin Gadkari Friday began a series of meetings here to end the power struggle in the party's Karnataka unit in the wake of B.S. Yeddyurappa's bid to get back the chief minister's post.

Gadkari reportedly told Yeddyurappa that he has to wait for reinstatement till he is cleared of corruption charges, party sources said. However Yeddyurappa's demand for a suitable position in the state unit may be considered, they said.

Yeddyurappa, who met Gadkari at a hotel for about 20 minutes, left the place without talking to the media.

The BJP chief also had separate meetings with Yeddyurappa's successor D.V. Sadananda Gowda, state BJP chief K.S. Eshwarappa and other leaders before all of them headed to a resort on the city's outskirts for a 'chintan-manthan' or brainstorming session with legislators.

The session has been called to tell legislators and party leaders the importance of morality and discipline following the involvement of three ministers, Laxman Savadi, C.C. Patil and J. Krishna Palemar in porn viewing in the assembly Feb 7. They resigned the next day.

All party legislators, parliament members and several party functionaries are attending the session. Yeddyurappa is also participating in the session.

Ahead of Friday's meetings, Yeddyurappa hosted a luncheon meeting here Thursday to demonstrate support for him in the state unit.

He is reported to have set a Feb 27 deadline for the party's central leaders to decide on his demand for reinstatement or officially declared the supreme leader of the party in the state. That day is his birthday and his supporters plan a big bash where he may announce his plan of action if party does not accept the demands.

Yeddyurappa, the BJP's first chief minister in southern India, quit July 31 last year over corruption charges. BJP came to power for the first time in Karnataka in May 2008. Assembly polls are due early next year.

The old saying that 'corruption currupts the currupt' goes so well with Mr. Yeddiyurappa. He may be an honest man according to him. But several authorities have found him to be dishonest. The cases are in the courts of law. Therefore, as a politican in the filed for several decades, let him wait for the verdicts of the courts.

An absurd wrong political move has cost dearly the BJP, i.e., over reacting to the issue with Mr.Yeddy. People know that the BJP did this with a motive, design and a plan to not promote regional leaders at any cost, seeing Cong. being thrashed and thrown out of gear by the people who revolted and split against the congress went on to become strong regional leaders and they did not want this to happen to them. But this intent was defeated. Even Mr. Modi will not be under BJP's torn umbrella and will become a beautiful umbrella himself in Gujarat.

End of BJP raj in only and now forever only Southrn Indian state. Nobody can damage BJP name and fame - they do not require outside hand - they themselves are capable of ruining them. Kya Gadkari saab you have no control over your party. This is not the right Rights spirit. Best way to come out of this situation is to to give top party position to Yediyurrappa in Party High Command and ask him to wait till next elections which can be constated under his leadership. Do not bother about what Devegauda's Janata party or Congress party say about corrupt practices of BJP or Yeddi. Yur crimes are not that serious when compared to scams of congressians. Adardsh, Bofors, Commonwealth, D. Raja, 2 Gsp, Land Scams, Lawasa, Mukund Trust Land scam, Balwa connections, faulty Lokpal, Sugar Industry scams, etc. and hundreds more.

      BJP should learn from INC
      Live and Let Live
      Share & Sharing
Make everybody friends but rule on your principles
create havoc during times of crunch
      pardon during times of pleasure
      etc. etc.
the only party who has the ability to rule India is INC they have learnt the art of ruling from the British

BJP top leadership is in the right direction by ensuring that leaders like Yeddy maintain low profile till their names are cleared. Yeddy should exhibit his loyalty to the party by keeping quiet and striving for the betterment of party instead of flexing his muscles and showing strength. He needs to think in the larger interest of the party and stop being a power monger.
