New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari on Monday came out in full support of yoga guru Baba Ramdev on the fifth day of his agitation here, and accused the ruling Congress Party of looting the nation through its 'rigid attitude and ineffective policies'.
Gadkari claimed that Baba Ramdev has no political ambition and emphasized that agitations like these are vital for the upliftment of the nation, which is going through a tough time because of the rampant corruption around.
"Ramdev's agitation is absolutely necessary. We are a rich nation with a poor population. There will be no real independence till corruption, hunger and inflation remain. Baba Ramdev has no political intention. What is wrong in saying that bringing back black money? Is it a crime?" asked Gadkari.
Addressing the gathering at the Ramlila Maidan here, Gadkari said the BJP extends full support to Baba Ramdev's cause, as his agitation is for the future of the country.
"I am with Baba Ramdev and his movement. This movement is for the future of our country. On behalf of the BJP, I pledge full support. I have told Baba Ramdev-we are with you," spoke with Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley today regarding this agitation and they have also extended their support to this agitation," said Gadkari.
"We have stopped work in both the Houses of Parliament today, as the government was not able answer questions pertaining to corruption and black money," he added.
Gadkari also questioned the Congress-led UPA Government's hesitancy in bringing back black money stashed in safe havens abroad.
"Why is the government reluctant to bring back black money? Why is the government afraid in disclosing names of offenders? Why is it taking so long to bring back black money?" asked Gadkari.
"Look at the condition of our economy. We were dreaming of a 12 per cent growth rate, what we have is a five per cent growth rate. There is no economic growth, farmers are committing suicides. Look at the state of the country. UPA ministers are looting the country. There is rampant corruption due to the ineffective policies of this government," he added.
Gadkari further alleged that India's apex investigation agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has now become the 'Congress Bureau of Investigation'.
"The CBI has become the 'Congress Bureau of Investigation'. Government misuses CBI to blackmail political opponents. CBI helps this government to survive ," he said.
Gadkari also used the occasion to target the UPA Government on the 2G spetrcum scam and the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG) scam.
"2G Spectrum scam, Commonwealth Games Scam - who is responsible? The files were signed by cabinet secretariat, PMO, Finance Ministry - only to blame Raja or Kalmadi is not fair," said Gadkari.
"Are the Prime Minister or Mr. Chidambaram not responsible?" he asked.
Baba Ramdev earlier in the day declared that he would take his ongoing protest on black money and corruption to Parliament and vowed to oust Congress in the next Lok Sabha polls.
"The government has become completely deaf. We have to make them hear us. Now, our protest will be outside Parliament. We are not talking about 'gherao'," said Baba Ramdev.
"Lok Sabha polls will be in 2014 and 99 per cent could be in 2013. This protest is to ensure that no dishonest person enters Parliament. Such people should be boycotted. We do not have a political agenda," he added.
Baba Ramdev, who began his fast on Thursday, accused the UPA government of being insensitive to the concerns of the common man of this country.
"The government is deaf, blind and insensitive. It is in coma, it will die, we don't want anybody to die. But they are inviting death. Congress hatao, desh bachao," said Baba Ramdev.
"We will sit on dharna outside Parliament," he added. (ANI)
