Shimla, Oct.27 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress Party, accusing it of gifting the people of the country poverty, unemployment, corruption and poor infrastructure.
Addressing BJP rallies in Reckong Peo and Chopal in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur and Shimla Districts, Gadkari, who has received the wholehearted support of the BJP's top brass to counter allegations of financial and tax irregularities linked to his Purti Group, said: "The Congress has ruled the country for the longest time, except for a brief period of eight years, and poverty, unemployment, corruption and lack of infrastructure are gifts of the Congress to the people.
" Campaigning for the November 4 Himachal Pradesh State Assembly elections, Gadkari said that instead of helping people, the ruling party continues to provide benefits to big leaders and corporate houses.
He accused the Congress and the UPA-II Government of doing nothing to improve the condition of the poor and needy. He also said that no steps have been taken to check unemployment or curb the price rise. He said that such problems did not exist under the six-year-long NDA regime under Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee (1998-2004).
"The UPA Government has failed on all fronts and has done nothing for the overall development of the country. The farmers are committing suicide, the common man is reeling under rising prices, and unemployment is on the rise, but the government has failed miserably to solve these problems," Gadkari said.(ANI)
