    EU-India trade up 20 percent

    Brussels, Jan 19 (IANS) Exports from the European Union (EU) to India grew by 20 percent to 33.4 billion euros (about $43 billion) between January and October 2011, compared to the corresponding period in the previous year, the EU statistical office said Thursday.

    It was 28 billion euros during January-October in 2010, the EuAsiaNews reported quoting the Eurostat.

    Exports from India to the 27-member EU also went up by 20 percent from 27.8 billion euros in January-October 2010 to 33.3 billion euros during the review period in 2011.

    EU trade with all its major partners grew in January-October 2011, compared with 2010, except for imports from South Korea (- 8 percent), noted Eurostat.

    The highest increases were recorded for exports to Russia (+28 percent), Turkey (+23 percent), China (+21 percent) and India (+20 percent), and for imports from Russia (+26 percent), Norway (+21 percent), Brazil and India (both +20 percent).
