Curator says Adelaide pitch would offer something for everyone

Sydney, Nov 17(ANI): Damian Hough, the curator at the Oval, Adelaide, has said the pitch during the second Test match between Australia and South Africa would offer something to everyone.

Hough also promised increased pace, bounce and carry ahead of the second Test, starting on Thursday.

"It is doing a bit with the new ball and really for the quicks the entire game. Last year I had a little more grass on it than the season before and it has nice even grass cover on it. It is where I want it to be," News.com.au quoted Hough, as saying.

Hough said both slow and fast bowlers would find assistance at Adelaide as proved last January when Peter Siddle claimed 5-49 in India's first innings and his former Adelaide curator Nathan Lyon 4-63 during the second dig to power Australia's 298-run fourth Test win.

"I have tried to leave a bit more grass and what we are finding it definitely has a bit more bounce and carry through to the keeper and probably an increase in bounce for the spinners while still getting turn," Hough said.

"I would agree it was seaming around a little more than you would expect but we are going with the same philosophy. We still want to maintain the character of Adelaide Oval," he added. (ANI)
