Congress trying to plug exodus by arresting Jagan: YSR Congress

Hyderabad, May 29 (ANI): YSR Congress on Tuesday alleged that the Congress Party in connivance of the law enforcing authorities had arrested YS Jaganmohan Reddy only to save its flock and stop further exodus after its disastrous performance in the June 12 by-polls.

"Congress hatched the conspiracy to confine YS Jaganmohan Reddy to jail as the Italian-born Sonia Gandhi-headed party in its mafia style operation wanted to save its own party from further collapse as the results of by-polls is a bygone conclusion," YSR Congress spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told reporters here.

Be it Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari, Chief Minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana, everyone started telling the same lines that the arrest of YS Jaganmohan Reddy ahead of the by-polls would not be a wise idea, but the reality is, "if our leader is in the open the Congress edifice will collapse as there will be exodus from that Party," he said, adding that the present dispensation in the State wants and will be trying to save its skin till the 2014 general elections.

Rambabu said the YSR Congress does not believe that the arrest is valid.

"It is done only to please Sonia Gandhi, whom YS Jagan has defied by continuing the Odarpu Yatra," he said, and added that they still have doubts about the death of YSR in the helicopter crash. Many questions remained unanswered and the State and Central governments did not conduct a proper inquiry is our view, he said.

"A resolution demanding a judicial inquiry was passed in the YSRC plenary itself. The lukewarm response to find out the reasons behind the crash of the helicopter and the over enthusiasm in arresting YS Jagan clearly shows that the Congress leadership is hiding facts and is part of a larger conspiracy," he said.

"YSRC cadre will conduct relay hunger strikes at all mandal headquarters for ten days starting Wednesday to protest against the arrest of YS Jagan, the district conveners meeting has decided. The programme will not be applicable to mandals where elections are due," he said.

YS Vijayamma will take up electioneering and the party will win all the 18 assembly and Nellore Lok Sabha seats as people were witness to the crude way in which the YS Jagan's arrest was dealt with by the State Government and the subsequent comments by the leaders of Congress and TDP.

The way in which the city was turned into a police fortress, the heavy restrictions imposed on traffic movements, arrest of party cadre, spokespersons and the house arrest of YSRC candidates who were democratically eligible for canvassing shows the fear of the Congress government and its secret ally, TDP, he said.

"The fear of losing is very pronounced in every act of the Congress and it will pay a heavy price in the days to come," he said.

Meanwhile, Vijayamma has written a letter to Chief Election Commissioner, S Y Quraishi, in which she termed the arrest of Jaganmohan Reddy just ahead of the scheduled assembly polls to be a political conspiracy by the ruling Congress Party to deprive his participation in the elections, and urged him to ask the CBI to release her son.

"I am writing this letter with a great hope that you would kindly intervene with the CBI, which has, in complete disregard to the fact that Sri Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, Founder President, YSR Congress Party, a Registered Unrecognized Political Party, is leading the campaign on behalf of his Party for the upcoming bye-elections to 18 Assembly segments and one MP seat in our State, have arrested him most undemocratically on 27-5-2012, just 15 days before the bye-elections as part of a larger conspiracy to deprive his participation in the elections with the sole objective of helping the ruling Congress candidates," said Vijayamma.

"The CBI filed FIR in CBI Court, Hyderabad on 17-8-2011, arraying Sri Y S Jaganmohan Reddy as Accused 1. The CBI did not summon Mr Jaganmohan Reddy for almost 280 days after filing the FIR. They could have arrested him at any time after the filing of FIR. But, they did not do so," she added.

Vijayamma further said the CBI summoned him only after the Jaganmohan Reddy started actively canvassing for the bye-elections.

Vijayamma in her letter to the Chief Election Commissioner accused the CBI of working at the behest of the ruling Congress Party.

"I have no choice, therefore, except to approach you requesting your kind intervention. Sir, I request you to kindly direct the CBI to immediate release Mr Jaganmohan Reddy. They have waited for waited for 270 odd days; they can wait for another 15 days, particularly when there is no possibility, whatsoever, for tampering the evidence. I request you to this in the larger interest of democracy and for free and far elections," she added. (ANI)
