Communist movement won't fail in India: Prakash Karat

Agartala, Jan 29 (IANS) The Communist movement in India will not fall back despite attacks and conspiracies. Its fight against the social exploitation of Dalits, tribals, the poor and others would make it stronger, Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) general secretary Prakash Karat said here Sunday.

"During the freedom struggle, Communists had shown the way to the entire country. Over 450 Left partymen were killed, thousands made homeless, hundreds of party offices were destroyed in a few years in Bengal. But the Communists would not run away," Karat said.

The CPI-M general secretary while addressing a mammoth gathering here said: "Due to economic liberalism, crores of youths have remained jobless and unemployment is increasing everyday."

He said there are 55 men in India whose assets valued are over Rs.50,000 crores and 20 years ago, the number of such wealthy men was only nine.

"Since 1995, over 256,000 farmers have committed suicide. After the Left governance in Bengal and Kerala, farmers's suicides have again begun in these two states," Karat said.

In his 35-minute speech, the Communist leader said that the UPA government had been trying to grab the rights of the poor, depriving them of jobs and food.

Tripura chief minister and CPI-M politburo member Manik Sarkar, the party's central committee members Bijon Dhar and Aghore Debbarma also spoke at the gathering that was organised ahead of the CPI-M's four-day state conference which began Sunday.

Besides Karat, CPI-M politburo members Sitaram Yechury, Manik Sarkar and Brinda Karat are among the top Marxist leaders who would address the internal sessions of the conference which aims to make the party more pro-people and strong and to make the party cadres ideologically skilled .

One should visit Kerala now to feel the money power of the so called Communists. They usurp power in many public bodies- like the Pariyaram Medical College to fill the coffers of the party and its leaders. Where else can you find the party headquarters and apartments of party bosses centrally air conditioned? It is not a workers party, it is a party for its leaders and members to accumulate wealth. It will not find a place in India except in few pockets.

Communist movement is in garbage dumps in most of the nations in the world. In Russia Lenin and Stalin's statues were removed. Even in India, the communist movement is on the way to garbage dumps. It is taking a bit longer in India. Communism is hypocrisy, double talking, double dealing and backsabbing incorporated by a few cadres and for the caders in the name of masses.

In India political systemsm, things that is preached in one way will be practiced in just opposite way. There are scoundrel politicians in Tamil Nadu who used to speak ill of Hindu Gods and Hinduism etc. , but behind the curtains the same buggers used to send their wife/daughters(Selvis) to temples to do special puja for their well being. IN THE SAME our politicians, trade union leaders and other fraudsters speak of equalty/leninism/communism etc., but when it comes to their own cause they are the most non communists. Commuinism in India is a stinking material used for balancing the power equation. Communism HAS ALREADY BEEN BURIED THOUSANDS FEET BELOW THE GROUND. Jai Hind

Communists you all are counting your days,

Pl. do not make false claim that after you left Bengal/Kerala (which was by force-Peoples mandet) the farmers sucide has increased. The farmers sucide was happenning in your time too but was kept under cover by your govt. since there is less censorship now and after ANNA HAZERA's movement the media has become more aggressive and alert this news are coming up in the media which is good in one way as the present govt. will act and try and resolve the issues if not eradicate fully.

As far as poor and the riches is concern every one knows this and no country in the world has equal status for all though they may calim like you but ofcourse there should be a corrective mechanism in place to reduce this gap no doubt about it but your pary will not be able to do that is for sure.To follow this you and your team should travel in public transport to Parliament and other places instead of using the car and your presence in the Parliament is only to eat biscuits in the meeting and talk but without any action as no one is bothered to take note of your comments.

Pl. do not put Bengal and Kerala into another dark era. Very soon even BIHAR will do better than this states.

See what has happened in your leadership. Bengal which was the Industrial capital of INDIA is rotting even though ever bit of land in the state is fertile the poor farmers are unable to survive because of bad governance and infrastructure which you did not thought about for so many years.

Mr. Karat expects the Communists come back with rebound energy. This is a pipe dream. There is no valid reason to vote them to power.

'Nammal Koyum Vayalellam Nammudethakum' a slogan of cpm. Now what is the fate?
The communists always understand things wrongly. They always misguide their cadres. The educated youth knows it but to survive in Kerala the easiest way is to take a membership in the party. The more the people are educated the less will be the growth of the party unless they do not change their attitude. Privatisation is not a crime equally we should promote cooperative system to improve the condition of the middle class, lower middle class, lower class. It is not advisable to offer subsidy for everything. It is purely a political stunt to give rise @ rs.2 when compare to the minimum wages. The money is attracted to the Liquor shop and Bar Hotels. The Government is cheating and looting through excise.

Karat should state first whether communist movement has any future in WB. He has been presiding over the liquidation of this movement for the last few years by his unrealistic anti US posture for anything and everything. He should realize that people are not happy with the anti US capsules his party is prescribing for all the maledies in the country. All Communist leaders in Kerala are richer than all other party leaders there. In that sense, many will clinch with communists in some pockets of India. The movement is already in the dustbin because of corruption and fantastic fundamentalism with inflexible ideology and rigidity in applying principles while solving national problems. The man behind the fall of Communism in India to this nadir is Karat himself!

Long ago a person from a middle-class office goer mentioned that he was feeling as in Congress for the first 10 days of the month, as a Socialist for the 2nd ten days and a Communist for the rest of the month. Unless costs of essential items comes down everyone will be a Communist for ever at least in India.

If communists will not fail then Indians will fail. Communists success in India is Indian society's failure examples are Bengal, Kerala..

socialist/communists as the third front in India politics are the need of an hour. as both congress and bjp playing cocktale of religion and politics and complecating social relations, nation need a third front to guide us out of this mess.
when reservation was proposed with the independence of the nation, their was a need to free people from strict caste, sect, sex, religion as a critaria for personal development. now these days the biggest handicape to personal development is poverty. need of the hour today is to provide welfare and reservation to people below poverty line no matter which religion, caste, sect one is from. when a poor can hardly provide food and shalter to family how can he provide quality education to his kids and knowledge of computer which is so vital in this era of information and technology?

Prakash Karateji, Elected communism has no head. only tail. Your capitalist communism has neither tail nor head. watch out ! your days of election and games between ruling party and opposition parties are over. Ask Vijayan to collect more money from the Lavalin and your unorganised employees for your second hand leaders survival.

Possibly, this is the first and last statement by Comrade Karat. This will be written in Indian history.
    • debendra  •  New Delhi, Delhi  •  27 days ago
Probably our comrade Prakash is day-dreaming.His party has totally shifted away from principle based politics to oppurtunity based politics, the same communists had worked as traitors by supporting emergency during Indira's emergency. How Our friend is again claiming that thier movement will not fail. it has already failed.

Time has come to make statues of these Karats and the long list of hypocrites. Talk that NDTV Pronob Roy (relation of Karat) too in the list. Comminist movement of snatch, steal, loot/plunder and enjoy with shows of fool, hopes, dances and dramas, abuses, gag and kill in between can't last long. This whole ideology is built on sand castles.

It is amazing that the professional pamphleteers of JNU have not responded to what SriAiyerRS has said below. He has mentioned by name the cattle class intellectual elite professorial employees of the alleged red bastion where the working class are treated as those of the poor of Singur and Nandigram. I am told the Writ filed by Sri SR Aiyer against JNU is coming up for hearing on 08 Feb 2012 in DHC. Unless JNU tries delaying tactics We expect the case to be settled in the petitioner's favour on the same day. Because how on earth are these communist professors going to counter the Yahoo Report which says in somany words the proletarian stenographer is innocent of the crime he has been accused of. I wish they had devised some other means to remove this inconvenient thorn in their flesh than relying on E-mail etc. which can be tracked down. They compounded their problems by going into specifics of dates (11 and 12 April 2008), language (transliterated Tamizh), etc., added to which they supported the delinquent complainant's statement of having deleted the obscene emails (when it was not sent as per the Yahoo Report) "by mistake" not only from her inbox but also from the trashcan.
Actually the entire administrative system in all these Universities will have to be given a thorough shake-over. Teaching employees should never be entrusted with the job of administration as their holding higher paper-degrees is not a guarantee that they are "know all". Administration should be left in the hands of administrators and the teaching employees should be confined only to their class rooms and their elitist "chambers". Otherwise they develop trade-union mindset as has happened in the present case and put their better cattleclass intellectual qualifications of expertise in cut-paste research to crooked manipulations.
