Washington, Oct 16 (ANI): U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has taken responsibility for the security breach at the U.S. consulate in Libya where an assault by extremists killed four American officials.
"I take responsibility. I'm in charge of the state department's 60,000-plus people all over the world [at] 275 posts," Clinton admitted during an interview with CNN.
According to the Guardian, Clinton also said that neither President Barack Obama nor Vice President Joe Biden was involved in the decision.
"The president and the vice-president wouldn't be knowledgeable about specific decisions that are made by security professionals [who are] the ones who weigh all of the threats and the risks and the needs and make a considered decision," she said.
According to the paper, some critics argue that this was an attempt to shield Obama from attacks made by Republicans over the affair on the eve of the second presidential debate. (ANI)
