Washinton, May 24 (ANI): Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton has said that U.S. cyber experts hacked Al Qaeda propaganda site in Yemen, reversing their propaganda.
She accused the U.S. officials of changing ads that bragged about killing Americans into ads that showed the death toll of Al Qaeda attacks against Yemenis.
According to Fox News, Clinton said that State Department specialists who patrolled the web and social media to counter Al Qaeda's attempts to recruit new followers launched the cyberattack.
Her comments came as a rare public admission of the ongoing covert cyber war against extremists.
Clinton said the effort is part of a multipronged attack on terrorism that goes beyond raids, like the one that killed Osama bin Laden, to include diplomats working alongside special operations forces and to train local forces. (ANI)
