Melbourne, Oct 13 (ANI): Cricket Australia's selection boss John Inverarity has said the Twenty20 Champions League will be anything but an ideal preparation for the upcoming Test series against South Africa.
Australia has key pacers Ben Hilfenhaus, Starc, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Johnson, all-rounder Shane Watson and batsmen Michael Hussey and David Warner on Champions League duty in South Africa.
"It is anything but an ideal preparation. You just have to do your best but having the Champions League where it is now is not in the best interests of good preparation for the first Test," Inverarity said.
He said Cummins' presence in South Africa meant he will be used sparingly this Test summer.
"For some time you will not see him play three Tests in a row," The Advertiser quoted him, as saying.
Inverarity said Starc's left-arm swing and bounce offered variety to the Australian attack that will feature Peter Siddle, leaving Hilfenhaus, Cummins and James Pattinson to fight it out for remaining slots. (ANI)
