London, Aug 12 (ANI): Star batsman Kevin Pietersen has reversed his decision to quit limited-overs internationals and has said that he is committed to playing all formats of international cricket for England.
In a dramatic attempt to salvage his England career, Pietersen released a video interview, in which he admitted making serious mistakes over the past week and claimed that he wanted to give "confirmation and clarity" about his future after speaking to his family, advisors and close friends.
"I have had a change of heart, I love being part of a successful England team and it would be sad for me, especially the way things have been running through the media in the last few days, to end a career like this," The Telegraph quoted Pietersen, as saying, in the video.
Pietersen had put his Test career in jeopardy earlier this season, after he retired from international limited-overs cricket, in order to commit himself fully to the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL).
"I want to say that I'm not going anywhere, I want to commit to all forms of cricket for England, because I love playing cricket for England. I can't wait to play in Straussy's 100th Test match. Money's not everything to me. Sportsmen have short careers. I can't do this until I'm 50 or 55 and I'm a provider for a young family," the BBC quoted Pietersen, as saying.
After last week's second Test at Headingley, the South-African born cricketer, in a press conference, had hinted that he would not represent England after this week's final Test at Lord's.
However, following talks with Flower during the past 48 hours, Pietersen said he wanted to fully commit his future to England.
"I did a press conference on Monday I didn't handle the right way, I was very emotional. I did say things I probably should not have said," he said.
"I am not insisting on playing the full IPL. Absolutely not, I take it all back, I will not be playing the full season. It is not an elephant in the room any more," he added. (ANI)
