CBS News poll says Obama holds edge over GOP hopefuls

New York, Feb.15 (ANI): U.S. President Barack Obama holds a significant lead over each of his potential Republican opponents in the general election, according to a poll released Tuesday by CBS News and the New York Times.

The new survey shows the president leading Romney by six points, 48 percent to 42 percent, among registered voters. Last month, the two men were tied at 45 percent each.

Obama's lead over former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum is eight points: 49 percent to 41 percent.

Romney's drop in support against the president is attributable to a shift among independents. Obama holds the edge, leading Romney among independents by nine points.

The president holds double-digit leads over the other two GOP candidates in the race, Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich. Obama leads Paul 50 percent to 39 percent - an 11 point margin - and he leads Gingrich 54 percent to 36 percent, a difference of 18 points.

The survey was conducted from February 8 to13 among 1,197 adults nationwide. (ANI)

Rick Santorum is the poster boy for the Tea Party. Remember them? The extreme right wing obstructionist group who refused to work even with their own GOP leadership, and who brought us the political gridlock and credit down grade. Over 60% of Americans partially or completely blamed the credit down grade on the GOP /Tea Party sabotage. Do some research on the Tea Party. The profile of the average Tea Party member is white, male, middle aged, working class, blue collar worker/ entrepreneurial , and socially conservative (racially intolerant to openly racist), and surprise…. angry. So far sounds like the profile the average mass murderer, right? Some are entrepreneurial, but most are less college educated, preside in southern states, and believe the country was better off prior to civil rights reform. They believe in entitlements like Social security and Medicare…as long as they benefit from them. They don’t believe in Medicaid because that entitlement services the poor. They don’t support student loans probably because many Tea Party members don’t hold college degrees and have don’t plan to go, therefore no benefit for them. Many are evangelical and fundamentalist, and intolerant of “watered down” Christianity or other religions, and are so extreme in their pro-life support they feel comfortable taking away a woman’s right to choose, and legally requiring intrusive unnecessary medical procedures (see North Carolina/ Virginia) for any woman who requests an abortion. Most Tea Party members support the Cantor’s GOP economic plan, but that plan benefits the 1% and corporations, not average middle class Tea Party member. Most Tea party members rely on rhetoric and ideology rather the objective analysis to guide them on issues. Here’s the ultimate irony: 99% of GOP / Tea party voters are not rich, but vote against their own economic interest when they support GOP economic plan which clearly is at war with the middle class economic desires and interests.....…..If you want all this America, vote for Santorum and the Tea Party….
