Carlsberg's 7th brewery at Bikram

Patna, Oct. 31 -- Carlsberg India Private Limited (CIPL) on Tuesday laid the foundation of its seventh state-of-art brewery and performed bhoomi pujan at Bikram in Patna district. CIPL hopes to become one of the most formidable players in the market when the construction of the Bikram brewery is completed in the fourth quarter of 2013.

CIPL, brewer of Carlsberg, Carlsberg Elephant, Tuborg Green, Tuborg Strong and Palone 8 brands of liquor, said the facility with a start-up capacity of 0.5 Million HL (500 KHL), would cater to the entire Bihar market and surrounding states.

It would also generate local employment, CIPL added.

Importantly, CIPL claimed, that in line with its global principles of social responsibility, the brewery would have a waste water recovery plant at the site and a large part of the area would be demarcated as green area.

Addressing the bhoomi pujan function, Soren Lauridsen, MD, CIPL, said, "The setting up of the brewery in Patna district reaffirms Carlsberg's commitment to India. The ambition of Carlsberg India is to be the fastest growing beer company, by offering premium international quality brands to Indian consumers".

The setting up of seventh brewery in Bihar is another move that will further reinforce close collaboration between Denmark and India, said Freddy Syane, ambassador of Denmark, on the occasion.

"The state of the art technology for energy and water efficiency, combined with availability of new jobs in the surrounding areas of the brewery, reaffirms Carlsbergfs commitment to the local community in India", he added.

JD (U) MP of Patliputra, Ranjan Prasad Yadav, assuring CIPL, said, "We assure you that you will receive all encouragement and help in this venture". Among others, legislator Anil Kumar Sharma was also present on the occasion.
