New Delhi, Dec. 1: Auto sales during November turned out to be a mixed bag with Maruti and Mahindra reporting a growth of 12-18 per cent, while Tata Motors and Hyundai saw their numbers shrink.
Car maker Maruti Suzuki India reported a 12.45 per cent increase in total sales at 1,03,200 units in November against 91,772 units in the same month last year. Domestic sales stood at 90,882 units during the month, up 9.67 per cent from 82,870 units in the year-ago period.
However, sales in the mini segment, including M800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR, fell 5.76 per cent to 36,679 units from 38,921 units in November last year.
Mahindra and Mahindra reported an 18 per cent increase in total sales at 48, 143 units in November against 40,722 units in the same month last year.
Domestic sales stood at 46,755 units against 38,159 units last year, up 23 per cent.
Sales in the passenger vehicle segment, which includes the utility vehicles and the Verito, registered an increase of 38 per cent at 24,604 units against 17,813 units in the year-ago month.
Meanwhile, total vehicle sales of Tata Motors declined 13.43 per cent to 66,500 units from 76,816 units last year.
Hyundai Motor India also posted a 2.29 per cent decline in total sales at 55,762 units against 57,071 units in the corresponding month last year.
In the two-wheeler segment, Suzuki Motorcycle and Yamaha Motors reported increase in sales. While Suzuki posted a 25 per cent increase in sales at 39, 134 units, Yamaha sales went up 14 per cent at 44,691 units in November.
