Capello holds talks for Russia job: Sports Minister

Moscow, July 12 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Former England coach Fabio Capello held talks Thursday on taking the vacant Russia job, the country's Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said.

The Russian Football Union (RFU) named Capello on its shortlist of 13 coaches Tuesday for the post, which has been vacant since Dick Advocaat joined PSV Eindhoven after Euro 2012.

"Today they had Capello, held talks with him," Mutko said of the Russian Football Union.

Capello's visit does not mean he is on the verge of being appointed, Mutko suggested.

"Then there will be the next candidate. I think that during this week, until next Tuesday at the most, consultations will be held with all the coaches on the list who express a desire or want to discuss this topic."

Earlier, Russian striker Sergei Volkov, said he had seen former England coach Fabio Capello hanging around immigration at one of Moscow's airports.

"I arrived at Sheremetyevo and you won't believe whom I met - Fabio Capello in person," Volkov said on Twitter. "The customs officers told me he had been sitting for more than an hour waiting for someone, having no visa. I'm shocked."

Capello's son Pier Filippo, who acts at his agent, did not accompany him when arrived in Moscow early in the morning, a source close to Capello told R-Sport.

Other names on the list include ex-Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola and former Tottenham Hotspur coach Harry Redknapp, as well as former Russia coach Valery Gazzaev, who has received enthusiastic support from midfielder Alan Dzagoev, a star of Euro 2012.
