London, Feb 23 (ANI): British Prime Minister David Cameron will slam "dangerous" anti-business rhetoric and attack "snobs" who criticise big companies for making money.
In a speech to the Business in the Community conference, Cameron will insist that he wants to speak up for British commerce in the face of public and political suspicion.
"Business is the most powerful force for social progress the world has ever known" and can be every bit as "moral" as the public sector," Cameron will say.
Some British politicians including Conservative ministers have recently joined in public criticism of big businesses including banks.
They have raised questions at the pay packages of chief executives in particular.
Some business leaders have recently accused Cameron of playing a part in a growing culture of criticism of the private sector.
But Cameron will declare himself an unabashed supporter of free enterprise and reject the "dangerous" idea that "wealth creation is somehow anti-social, that people in business are out for themselves," The Telegraph reports.
Cameron will argue, making money in the private sector brings wider social benefits.
"Business is not just about making money, as vital as that is. It's also the most powerful force for social progress the world has ever known," he will say.
"It can help us to smash poverty, raise horizons, drive the innovations, products, services that make our lives better, longer and happier. That doesn't get celebrated enough," he will add.
According to the paper, Cameron will heap praise on big companies, including McDonald's and Barclays, for their work with young people to encourage employment and training. (ANI)
