London, Sep 21(ANI): Sauber driver Sergio Perez has said he is ready to take the big step in his Formula One career, and is good enough to drive top teams like McLaren or Ferrari.
However, Ferrari chairman Luca Di Montezemolo has said that the Mexican is too inexperienced for his team as a replacement for Felipe Massa.
"I fully respect his opinion, I have only been in Formula One for two years, but I feel ready. I feel ready to do a good job for a top team, to be able to fight for the title," the Daily Express quoted Perez, as saying.
Perez, who is standing at ninth place in the championship, 22 points ahead of Massa, has had two second places and a third, which has attracted attention.
Like many other drivers, even Perez thinks if he performs strongly in the last seven Formula One races, then he might have a say in the driver's championship this year.
Perez said: "I am not worried. I have a very strong car for the next seven races and I hope I can deliver very strong performances. When I have a good race they put me in a different team, when it is bad, it is someone else." (ANI)
