Bollywood box-office report of the week

This week will see multiple releases in the form of Prakash Jha's CHAKRAVYUH, the Emraan, Sagarika and Neha starrer RUSH, Vashu Bhagnani's AJAB GAZABB LOVE and Glorious Entertainment's COVER STORY- THE ULTIMATE INTERVIEW. From the list it is likely to be Jackky Bhagnani's AJAB GAZABB LOVE and Emraan's RUSH which will lead the pack, while the Arjun-Abhay starrer CHAKRAVYUH is expected to appeal to the discerning audience.

Last Friday's major release, Karan Johar's 50 crore (all inclusive cost), STUDENT OF THE YEAR, surprised all with an inspired weekend (26-27 crore) and a very stable run during the weekdays. The film is looking at a week of nearly 40 crore from India, which is very creditable for a newcomer(s) film! SOTY has not done as well in the overseas (decent in US) grossing and#163;131,200 from UK and $326,500 in the US, during the opening weekend (19-21 October).

The other releases of the same week, Sandeep Malani directed JANLEVA 555, the animated DELHI SAFARI and SHUDRA - THE RISING, have all been rejected.

Netting a poor 6.50 crore during the opening week, AIYYAA has failed.

Rajamouli's MAKKHI (dubbed) failed to achieve the magic of EEGA and barely collected 50 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 10.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 2.10 lakhs from Surat, 1 lakh from Baroda (collections from 8 cinemas unreceived), 1.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 4.65 lakhs from Pune, 1.50 lakhs from Nasik, 20.50 lakhs from Delhi city, 3.65 lakhs from Noida, 3 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 3.75 lakhs from Kanpur, 6.35 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.35 lakhs from Agra, 1.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 3.50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2 lakhs from Jalandhar, 6.65 lakhs from Calcutta, 2 lakhs from Nagpur, 2.20 lakhs from Raipur, 3 lakhs from Indore, 5.50 lakhs from Jaipur, 2 lakhs from Kota, 5 lakhs from Hyderabad, 3 lakhs from Aurangabad and 4 lakhs from Bangalore. Has also done very well in the overseas (good in US) grossing and#163;360,000 from UK and $901,700 from the US, till the fourth weekend (19-21 October).

Concluding once again with Anurag Basu's BARFI! The film is now ending its superb run as it collected 15 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 3 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1 lakh from Surat, 5 lakhs from Pune, 1.25 lakhs from Nasik, 20 lakhs from Delhi city, 2.65 lakhs from Noida, 1.35 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 2.35 lakhs from Lucknow, 5 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1 lakh from Chandigarh, 1.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 11 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.35 lakhs from Siliguri, 1.10 lakhs from Guwahati, 2 lakhs from Nagpur, 2.50 lakhs from Indore, 1 lakh from Bhopal, 8.35 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Udaipur, 10 lakhs from Hyderabad, 15 lakhs from Bangalore and 1 .25 lakhs from Kochi. Adding another 1.50 crore BARFI! Has netted a superb 106 crores in five weeks from India. The Ranbir-Priyanka starrer is now a blockbuster. BARFI! is magical in the overseas (blockbuster in US) grossing and#163;718,800 from UK and $2,800,000 from the US, till the sixth weekend (19-21 October).
