BJP dares Rahul to become PM

Lucknow, Jan 29 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party Sunday dared Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi to become India's prime minister, saying it would reveal his "capability" to run the country.

"Let Rahul take the prime minister's seat. The whole country will see what he is capable of doing and how much capability he has to run the country," BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said at a press conference here.

"There is not much that he is required to do for riding on to the PM's office. All that Rahul needs to do is to ask Manmohan Singh to step down and then go and occupy the chair," he said.

"After all, the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) still has two years to go, so let him show what mettle he has," he added.

Prasad was reacting to his Congress counterpart Abhishek Manu Singhvi's remark that Rahul's leadership in the Uttar Pradesh elections has come like a storm to take the Congress party on the road to victory.

Out to run down the Gandhi scion, the BJP spokesman said: "I would like to cite an example of what Rahul's much-hyped campaign did at the state assembly elections in Bihar."

"The Congress lost its deposit in 17 of the 22 places that he led the party's campaign (in), while its overall tally came down from nine to 5."

Reacting sharply to Prasad's remarks, Singhvi who was also in town said: "The BJP leader's statement reflects how clearly his party has realised the ground reality that the Congress is all set to ride on to power in Uttar Pradesh in 2012 and will be back in power at the centre too in 2014."

Let there be plausible Alternative, People won't take a minute to summarily run down Congress, the message has been delivered live in Bihar & Gujarat. BJP should rise above sqabbles of overambitious leaders that have been invalidated with the passing time.

It is better to have discussions on issue related to public like, price rise, corruption, scams , national intigeraty, terrorism and many other which are more important issues. Is Rahul will the leader of UPA or MMS or other else it will not the issue at all.

he is right.Indian PM post is not open for apprenticeship for novice people like Rahul. If he becomes PM,it will be last nail in the coffin of ruining India. He is even not fit to become an MLA ,how one came think of him as a PM.What qualities and qualification has he?Does he know about our country's politics, culture, geography, economics, finance, international affairs,diplomacy,safety/security,army and many more areas where he is nil.Only belonging to Nehru/Gandhi family is not enough to become PM.We must not think of making him PM just because he is young, smart,a congressmen ,visiting slums and torch bearer of dynastic rule.If you love and respect India,pl. do not co-operate in ruining India by favouring him and his party

First BJP should focus on its own party in winning the elections.
There are 5 PM aspirants in direction-less and aim-less BJP, and each one of them are fighting for PM post like crab in a bottle. The sooner they remove the old and cunning crab Advani the better for the BJP.

Even in Karnataka we still hear about Yeddis tantrums - he had been in jail for 21 day and still longing for CMs chair.

It is very clear to all simple thinking Indian that Nehru-Gandhi family has one charter of action. Make Rahul the PM irrespective of whether he is qualified enough to run the country. Yes he can ruin the country. Look at the well thought out plan. Plans are around to propose Pronab Mukherjee as President so that he can not remain a contender for PMship and pose threat and challenge to Rahul.
It is time for foreign born naturalized person and her family to stop deciding our country's fate.

I think it is too early to predict that Mr Rahul will become next PM , he himself will not accept , he knows when is the correct time to become PM , it is in the hand of public to whome they want to elect as PM , the pole will show so not to say any thing at this point of time , public will decide the candidate for PM. I think BJP should not waste time in commenting on Rahul Gandhi's capability as PM. By the constitution, he can become PM anytime & that is something which Cogress should bother about. By commenting on Rahul, BJP is giving him & his party unnecessary & unwanted popularity. Instead, let election results show his cabability & then let others talk.

Congressmen ruled the country for almost 57 years but could transform Indian mindset in context of caste, creed, religions, sects, regionalism. Still all indian are divided as pree sultan period and mughal period. I feel shocked when freedom fighters are given priority on the basis of caste. Subas chandra Bose birthday is celebrated by raisng national flag in west bengal on the same day others state forget to remember the great leader.

The Rahul storm will be be totally destructive - for the Congress. Will the Congress party show him the door if the party loses in UP?

I think Narendra Modi should change the party. And all hindu majority should vote for him. The minorities shounld allowed to enjoy his governance. They should be kept in dark as we majorities are in dark in the rule of Congress.

It should not bother if Rahul or Pranab Mukherjee becomes PM. We are not a country run by a Dictator or a military ruler. Having said that, Rahal though coming from a family who have ruled the country for ages has not vouched for the post of P.M. He is more often seen talking with poor people and breaking bread with them. Point to be noted, how many of today's politicians are really seen going to the grassroots. I do not say that he is the best suited to be the P.M. but he really seems to have heart for a common man. He is rarely seen playing divisive politics like our BJP and Raj Thakeray does. We see Rahul as ever smiling and has a babyish face that makes us think of a person being immature. Ask any face reader and they will tell you that Rahul has more personal integrity and honesty than any of our living netas. If Rahul cannot be the P.M. than maybe we are living in a age of Rakshas where only dishonest rakshas can become P.M.

BJP should concentrate to win election and must be worried to bring their house in order. Why BJP is worried about Rahul Gandhi? It looks BJP has already conceded their defeat.

It will be a day of dismay when Rahul takes charge of PM of india because with his approach to national issues he, undoubtedly, is immature for the post.
