BJP to continue to demand for political accountability of Chidambaram in 2G case

New Delhi, Feb 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said that it will continue to demand political accountability of Chidambaram in the 2G case, after a Delhi court today dismissed Janta Party President, Subramaniam Swamy's petition to make Union Home Minister P Chidambaram a co-accused in the case.

BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said: "As far as the political accountability of Mr. Chidambaram, the then Finance Minister, is concerned, in view of overwhelming evidence, which is there in the public domain, the BJP shall continue to insist upon the political accountability inside and outside the Parliament."

He further said that the biggest case of corruption in independent India's history, in which the Supreme Court has cancelled 122 licenses, is an important issue in the political discourse of the country and BJP will continue to prominently highlight this issue in front of the nation.

While commenting on the trail court's verdict Prasad said that it is the ruling of the first court only and will wait for the higher court's ruling before making any further statement.

"One thing that we clearly know that, in matters concerning 2G, the higher court and the Supreme Court have, on several occasions, upset the decisions of the lower court. So this is just the first court's order, the order that will come from the higher court and the Supreme Court, we will make a comment after that only," he said.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court revoked 122 telecom licenses issued under a scandal-tainted 2008 sale, leaving the government acutely embarrassed and plunging the mobile network market of Asia's third-largest economy into uncertainty.

Prime Minister Singh's government has overseen the sale of licenses at below-market prices, costing the exchequer up to 39 billion dollars in lost revenues.

The Supreme Court had earlier directed a lower trial court to decide on whether Chidambaram should be probed in the 2G scam.

Former Minister Raja was forced to resign in 2010 and sent to jail last year after the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) faulted him for undervaluing spectrum to favour companies who were largely ineligible for 2G spectrum.

Swamy has submitted documents dating back to April 21, 2008 that claim that Chidambaram had discussed with Raja the prices of 2G Spectrum.

Swamy has accused Chidambaram of signing off on the telecom deal when he was the Finance Minister. (ANI)

People of the Democratic Republic of India will BEGIN TO LOOSE THEIR FAITH, RESPECT AND HONOUR that is left in their heart, in the JUDICIARY, with respect to the recent verdict of the Delhi High Court, relating to the involvement of Mr. P.Chidambaram on the 2 G Scam, which involves over $ 36 Billion to the Exchequer.

Whether it is one individual or more, the Government of India is COLLECTIVELY RESPONSIBLE for this huge loss to the nation, while at the same time, TAX PAYERS on the other hand are required to pay their taxes.

WHY IS THIS DOUBLE GAME ? IS OUR DEMOCRACY ( IT SHOULD BE DE-MOCRACY AND NOT DEMOCRACY ) this weak to PUNISH THE GUILTY ? WE are surely NOT ON THE RIGHT TRACK. We need A CHANGE IN THE GOVERNMENT AS WELL AS CHANGE IN EVERYTHING, IF WE HAVE TO SEE the lime light and develop.

The Government of India SHOULD OWN THIS RESPONSIBILITY AND BRING ALL THOSE GUILTY TO BOOKS. Will this happen at all ? IT IS SHAMEFUL !!!!!!!

With full respect to the judiciary I submit my Observations/ responses as follows.
Being a responsible India citizen first of all I respect and support the judiciary in all possible ways, because I love my country and countrymen. My argument is that a judge and judgement can be wrong. A verdict also can go wrong. That was the yesterday’s verdict. We have seen many court verdicts that have gone wrong in the recent past. There were serious corrections like Jessica lal murder casa and so on.!!!
As a normal simple citizen of this democratic India, this verdict is surprising, shocking and damaging India’s credibility and image. My observations based on freedom of expressions are the following.
      • Judge has seen the case as a simple straight forward murder or civil case. The judge did not see the National, political, democratic interests of the country and its people as a whole.
      • When all 2G spectrum licences are cancelled by higher court this verdict is conflicting and contradictory to that verdict
      • RAJA was a cabinet minister responsible to PM and that way to finance minister who has the responsibility to protect the interest of the country
      • Raja was not a government within the government – If that was the case DMT would have been dumped a year ago. The court did not consider the question of collective responsibility
      • Raja was a central minister not a Tamilnadu minister responsible to TN Chief minister
      • PM selects the ministers – Raj was selected by PM only. I think PM rejected few cases also.
      • Ref ring to Julius Caesar; the court wanted to say to the countrymen that all our ‘Brutuses’ are still honourable man even after doing one crime after the other ?? un believable! How many we have seen many? Many? …..and still BRUTUS is honourable man?? Surprising?
      • As a democratic COUNTRY like Subramanya swamy all Indians (everybody for that matter) should play politics STRONG politics when Indians lost 176,000crors.
      • Is that a simple matter is it ‘zero loss’ when all licences have been cancelled by court?
      • Yesterday it was a shame for NDTV and other channels to give high importance to ‘play politics’ when the higher court cancelled all licences. Shame! shame! on the media…. To play politics by media in such important matters of 176,000 crors also. When all the licenses have been cancelled the day before?
      • The case was not a simple case between Raja and Chidambaram- I think here is the mistake court did. It is the case for the entire population of the country. This minister was not an island. Or a militant or goonda?
      • I respect Dr Manmohan Singh he can be ‘maximum’ a Finance minister of India. PM has proved very well that he has no skills to sit in the PM chair.
      • With all the corruption index of 9.99 marks out of ten for congress- Still Brutus is an honourable man???
      • Personally I feel index of corruption as on today for BJP it is the pass mark of 4 out of 10 DMK it is 8 out of ten and other parties are not relevant here for now.
      • No party is supposed to be free from 100%free from corruption in a democratic country, if somebody feels he is is a utopian state.
I sincerely hope the higher courts will look in to this and correct the verdict as the case of over 125 crores people of India.

Poor pramod mahajan the erstwhile telecom minister was only involved in a 15000 crore scam. His own brother shot him when he did not share the booty. His son could blow away enough for brown sugar and was found senseless with burnt 1000rupees notes with brown sugar in it. Do not worry death lingers at the door of evil doers. Jai hind

I applaud you Satyavan. I hope the others will be as forthcoming as you are as to what happened when BJP allotted spectrum. Keep it up.

Why BJP alone? All opposition parties and sane citizens should join hands to see that big line of Gandhi cap bandits and their servants are punished. That corrupt O. P. Saini, a Delhi police sub-inspector, before becoming a judge could not understand laws and he read the judgments handed over to him by servants of 10, Janpath. He was a plant to sabotage justice here.

I only hope you know that the only one who wears Gandhi cap now (that too Nakhli) is Anna Hazare. A good expose from you. Keep it up.

I wonder if Judge Op Saini could have a peaceful sleep in the night when he had pronounced the partisan judgement favouring Chidamabram and crucifying the faith of 125 crores of people of this country.May God bless him.

Special CBI Court Judge was initially a Delhi Police Sub Inspector. Any Query?
