BCCI steps in to sort out Dhoni-Sehwag differences

New Delhi, Feb 23 (IANS) The Indian cricket board had to finally step in Thursday and asked India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his deputy Virender Sehwag to patch-up and restore peace in the dressing room during the Australia tour.

Sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told IANS that board secretary Sanjay Jagdale spoke to both Dhoni and Sehwag Thursday and asked them to quickly sort out the issues.

"Mr. Jagdale also spoke to coach Duncan Fletcher and told him that there should be peace in the dressing room," the official said on condition of anonymity.

Dhoni and Sehwag reportedly could address a joint press conference to clear the issues.

Dhoni sparked a debate in the media saying that the team management introduced a rotation policy for the top three - Sachin Tendulkar, Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir - because they are slow fielders and were costing the team 20 runs in the One-day games.

Sehwag hit back at a press conference, saying the seniors were never told by the captain that they were slow fielders.

Gambhir had also criticised Dhoni for not finishing matches quickly but the India captain said it was a matter of perception.

What is the role of coach Dun ken Fletcher in Indian cricket ? He is just enjoying the luxury offered to him by BCCI. He should be immediately removed from the post. What Dhoni-Sehwag are doing, it was inevitable. Both are not playing well and offering excuses. Gambhir cannot be termed as senior. even Rohit Sharma being a new comer is not a fast mover and has dropped catches at crucial juncture.Indian cricket is in a mess and requires overhauling.
