Battered baby continues to be critical

New Delhi, Jan 28 (IANS) The two-year-old abandoned and battered baby Falak continues to be critical, doctors said Saturday.

"Her condition is same as yesterday. She is stable but critical," Deepak Agrwal, assistant professor (neurosurgery) at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Trauma Centre, told IANS.

Falak was taken off the ventilator Friday.

The baby was admitted to AIIMS here Jan 18 with multiple injuries, including a fractured skull, human bite marks on her tiny frame and a clot on the right side of her brain.

She was brought to the hospital by a teenaged girl who claimed to be her mother.

The tone of the doctors hints at bleak chances of the baby's survival, though they also reported some movement in the baby Friday. Forensic experts examined Falak's wounds Saturday.

Police have launched a massive hunt for the child's parents and said they have constituted several teams to locate them as also those who had handed over the baby to the teenaged girl.

In a thickly populated and vast country like India, such bizzare and stray incidents are bound to happen for varied reasons. None could get blamed - either the Govt. or the Society. In these modern days of living in high rise flats, no one cares to know who is living at the next door, or what is going on within the neighbour's family. Poverty is shown as a reasons by many people. Again, in our country, eradication of pverty is next to impossible. We have seen this all these 64 years of Independence. The richest of the rich and the poorest of the poor live together in our country, the former with its surpluses and the latter with its deficits. But, sex play is common for all. The rich go in for the pleasure. The poor's only recreation is procreation. Nothing could be done.

Knowing pretty well that the baby will never survive for long, Dixit has magnonimously announced to take care of the child! Oh Congress pride!?
