String of bombings hit ancient Indian city, killing at least 80, police say

JAIPUR, India (AP) _ Police say the death toll in a series of bomb explosions across the ancient Indian city of Jaipur has risen to 80, with nearly 200 people injured A. K. Jain, additional director-general of state police, says 20 people succumbed to their injuries in hospital overnight. Seven blasts struck Tuesday within the old walls of the western city known for its pink-hued palaces.

Police say an eighth bomb was found and defused. Suspicion quickly fell on Islamic militant groups blamed for a string of attacks in India in recent years.
