Serial blasts rock Jaipur, over 50 feared killed

New Delhi, May 13 (ANI): Over 50 people were feared killed and over 70 injured in five serial blasts that rocked Jaipur late on Tuesday evening.

According to initial reports, the five blasts occurred at Tripolia Bazaar, Manek Chowk, Chandpol Gate, Hanuman Mandir (Johri Bazaar) and Lakshmi Mishthan Bhandar in old Jaipur.

Minister of State for Home, Sri Prakash Jaiswal, described the serial blasts as part of a major conspiracy. "We are ready to extend all help to the Rajasthan government. Security has been beefed up across the country, especially in the neighbouring States of Delhi and Haryana. We are capable of handling any terrorist misadventure."

"Security needs to be reviewed across the country," Jaiswal added

Meanwhile, Red alert has been declared in Rajasthan and in the neighbouring Haryana and Punjab States.

Earlier, the Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta is learnt to have interacted with Jaipur's Deputy General of Police (DGP) A.S. Gill and discussed about the blasts.

A team of National Security Guards (NSG) commandos along with bomb experts have left for the blast sites in old Jaipur city, as per television reports.

The exact cause of the blasts remained unknown till three hours to the blasts.

Meanwhile, the injured have been rushed to Sawai Man Singh hospital. Complete chaos prevailed at the blasts' sites, survivors were seen on television screens expressing their shock and anger over the incident.

Security personnel have cordoned off the area and diverted traffic. Local phone lines have been jammed for security purpose.

The serial blasts took place at intervals spread over 15 minutes. And, police also confirmed picking up a live bomb from another area of the citywhich was subsequently diffused.
