Budget session of Delhi Assembly begins today

New Delhi, Mar 17 (ANI): The Budget Session of the Delhi Assembly will begin here today.

The session will commence with Lieutenant Governor Tejender Khanna's address.

The debate on the motion of thanks to the Lieutenant Governor's address will take place on Tuesday.

The 14-day session will focus on various problems faced by the people of Delhi. The House will also take up short duration discussions on several issues including sealing and demolition, water crisis, privatisation of electricity, regularisation of unauthorised colonies and law and order problems of the capital.

On March 24, the state Finance Minister Dr. A.K. Walia will present the Delhi Budget for 2008-09 and the House will vote on it on March 27.

The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi Bill 2007 and the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Bill 2007 is likely to be passed during the session.

A total of 14 sittings will be held and the House will be adjourned sine die on April 4. (ANI)
