Jhargram, June 10 (ANI): Joint security forces have arrested Ranjan Tudu, a close aide of slain Communist Party of India (Maoist) polit bureau member Koteswara Rao alias Kishenji, from West Bengal's Jhargram region.
Tudu, 30, was arrested from the Jamboni police station area of the Jhargram.
Senior police officials said Tudu was a trusted associate of Kishenji.eanwhile, in another incident, Jharkhand Police arrested five Maoists, operating under People Liberation Front of India (PLFI), from Khunti District on Saturday.
Inspector General of Ranchi zone, MS Bhatia, said the arrested Maoists were involved in criminal activities and were responsible for creating social unrest in the past.
"An area commander, named Laka Pahan, operating under PLFI in Khunti and Ranchi districts, has been arrested with four of his associated. In total, five criminals operating under PLFI have been arrested. Their work area was Khunti and Ranchi," said Bhatia.
Bhatia said that 18 cases of murder, extortion and kidnapping have already been registered in various police stations against the arrested Maoists.
"One sten gun, one .315 bore pistol, one 9mm pistol, three bolt action rifles of .315 bore, six mobile phones, 10 SIM cards and cash worth 7,500 rupees has been recovered," added Bhatia. (ANI)
