    Advani to discuss Gujarat Lokayukta issue with President Patil

    New Delhi, Aug 30 (ANI): With the controversy surrounding the appointment of Lokayukta in Gujarat gaining momentum, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran Lal Krishna Advani terming it to be an attack on the democratic structure of the country, today said that he would soon meet President Pratibha Devisingh Patil on the issue.

    "We are going to meet the President on September 1 or 2 when she returns to the capital. All norms were ignored by the Governor like consultation with the Chief Minister before the appointment or taking the advice of his Cabinet on the issue," Advani told mediapersons outside Parliament here.

    "The Lokayukta was appointed by the Governor bypassing all established norms. Yes, we are going to meet the President over this," he added.

    Another senior BJP leader from Maharashtra, Gopinath Munde, also appeared to be on the same wavelength as Advani and said the decision of the Governor to appoint the Lokayukta without consulting the Chief Minister will affect the country's federal structure.

    "We have given a Question Hour suspension notice on the issue of Gujarat. The Gujarat Governor had appointed the Lokayukta there; this decision of the Governor will affect the federal structure of our country," Munde told mediapersons earlier in the day.

    "In the federal structure of the constitution, the government has a right. Without the advice of the government, the Governor had appointed a Lokayukta there. So, we will raise this issue in Both Houses of Parliament," he added.

    Meanwhile, uproar over the appointment of a Lokayukta in Gujarat without the consent of the Narendra Modi-led Government led to repeated adjournments in Parliament today.

    The BJP gave notices in both Houses of Parliament earlier in the day for suspension of Question Hour to discuss the appointment of Lokayukta in Gujarat by the Governor.

    BJP member Haren Pathak gave the notice for suspension of Question Hour in Lok Sabha to Speaker Meira Kumar, while senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley submitted this notice in the Rajya Sabha.

    Gujarat Governor Dr. Kamla Beniwal had on Friday appointed a retired High Court Judge, RA Mehta, as the new Lokayukta of the state. (ANI)

      At present the only state which is functioning well with good administation law and order is too good fast developing in infrastructure, water resources power, industry providing employment to locals and outsiders under the leadership of Mr.Narendra Modi. Congress doest like good things not to see people live in peace hence this dirty game

TamilNadu Lokayukta is not at all... interesting in finding or investigating how Mr.Chiddu... won fraudulanly... his election... THis might be federalism of Chiddu & Sonia/Rahul... One good thing about Chiddu election is that... Election commission has come out with print out... of each vote... some one was thrown into hail for telling... EVM's can be and is being manipulated...

      All the states where there is Lokayukta or Lokpal ACTs, should be joined as party as in all these states provison for appointment is practically the same except some more authority to be consulted

      In a parliamentary democracy the consultation with the elected government is a mandetory. if a governor disobeys this, it is a violation of the constitution. the governor of Gujarat should have consulted the Modi government before appointing a lokayuta, it is a fundamental principle of our federal polity. I think BLP is opposing this procedural lapse on the part of the governor not to the lokayukta institution itself. one should under stand this subtle diffrence.

      This shows the true colours of the bjp. At the centre they were shouting hoarse that the lokpal bill should be accepted but here they are opposing the Lokayukta.       If the govt is clean what is wrong if a Congress supporting Governor had appointed a Lokayukta. BJP need to understand that people are not fools they can interpret parties views. Karnataka issue, it was very much evident that BJP does not have a democratic ideology by placing CM of Yedurappa's choice. All major parties need to understand that a time will come when people will revolt against selfish political supremacy.

      Tit for Tat is a common phenomena with we human beings. Alway ruling party at the centre will try to destabilize state govt in which they dont hav power. This is very bad. Lokayukta and Governers are directly controlled from Centre, but in case of Justice Hegde, since he is neutral and treated both BJP,CONG and JDS as equal partners to Bribe, It worked out in positive manner. I dont know what happens to Gujrath - and future PM Modi. We know he is quite clean and do support development of State in all fields. Congress does not hav stamina to digest this True Truth. So Lokayukta could become a Puppet in their hands - No doubt.

      I think BJP did not like the Governor of Gujarat bypassing the established norms while appointing Lokayukta in the State. They will meet President and appreciate the appointment.
      After all, BJP was a strong supporter of Jan Lokpal bill. They are only worried that such a
      decision by the Governor will affect the country's federal structure. People would appreciate
      comments from Team Anna on this.

      Word GOVERNOR in sec. 3 of the Gujarat Lokayukt Act means and should be read as state government. The way the Governor has acted in the case of Gujarat Lokayukt, exercising discretionary powers can only be exercised where the Governor is referred in the Acts for autonomous bodied who are independent of the State and in particular on the Finance

      There should, no doubt, be Lokayukta in every state on the pattern of independent Lok pal. But the way the governor of Gujarat did the appointment cannot be justified. The office of governor has been misused by all the political parties in power, including BJP, to promote their political agendas. Thus this post stands dishonoured and the appointees are generally politicians with dubious records. Such persons do not remain neutral and often become tools for leg pulling in the hands of the government at the centre. These governors do not have much of work to do and have a nice old age at the tax payer's expense. Now that the debate of the role of governor in Gujarat is going on, this should be converted in to a major debate on the mode of appointment and use of this post.

        I pity your ignorance because The Governor has every right under the law governing the Lok ayukt to appoint Lokayukt if a Chief Minister takes almost 7 years and refuse to act as desired by the legislatures.

        Ravan, hitlor, hypocrat, communal, autocrat, killer, mass murderer, and so on.....whatever , whoever and howsoever he is, he is choice of people of Gujarat and non gujarati "Indian" has nothing to do with chooice of people of Gujarat. If Lalloo can continue his junfle Raj for 15 years in Bihar that too becoming choice of People of Gujarat in UP-Bihar ways of that time, Modiji cannot be denied his rights given by people of Gujarat. He is not C.M. becuase of any gift or mercy of UPA or Soniaji.
