Calcutta: Trainer Vijay Singh's fashionably bred filly, Abriella, returns to the racetrack, fully geared up to make amends for her recent failure, over a sprint. On Wednesday, the five in-a-row winner has lined up against her four rivals in the Sir Aali Cup, over 2,000m, a trip which the China Visit-Allair daughter is known to relish. Purists may argue about her handicap disadvantage against Angelo and her stablemate, Silver Fox. Abriella, being young, has, however, defied such weights and penalties in the past. Christopher Alford partners the four-year-old.
Vijay has another potential winner is Danube Valley, lined up in the 2,000m Vasto Handicap. The China Visit son seems to have improved since his last run but he may have to overcome the challenge from trainer Daniel David's improving horse, Sea Of Kisses, and also from Bharath Singh's sparingly raced, Moon Star.
