Aamir Khan's P.K. needs editing post Akshay Kumar's OMG release?

Mumbai, Oct. 18 -- A couple of months ago, director Rajkumar Hirani was quoted saying, "P.K. is about God and godmen. It's a satire that's very close to me and Abhijat Joshi, who writes with me." Sound similar to the broad outline of a recent hit film? There's reason to believe it might just be.

Exactly a month after Hirani's above statement, the Akshay Kumar-Paresh Rawal starrer OMG Oh My God - a satire on godmen and religious superstitions - hit the screens. Now, insider information is that major portions of the Aamir Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer are being reworked due to apparent similarities with OMG.

"Raju sir is redrafting parts of the script due to indirect but strong similarities. Like in OMG, a few sequences in P.K. also attack blind faith in godmen. And since both Raju sir and Aamir invest a lot in their films, they have decided to rework the script to make it look different," says an insider from the film unit.

What this means is an inevitable delay in shooting. P.K.'s first schedule was set to kick off in October with Anushka in Italy, but as of now, that stands cancelled. "The delay is because he (Hirani) is reworking the script. In all likelihood, the film will now start only by December-end or January next year," adds the insider.

The domino effect might eventually see P.K.'s release date pushed back as well. "They (Hirani and Aamir) don't want to rush into things. Aamir is constantly in touch with Raju sir. And by the time the final draft is ready, Aamir would have finished a major portion of Dhoom:3 and Talaash will have released," adds the insider.

We tried to reach Hirani, but his manager redirected us to his publicist who maintained that "no changes are being made in script at all," adding further that "Hirani finished writing the script a while back and it is locked for shooting."

It would seem that God does work in mysterious ways.
