Chirag United top I-League table
Viva Kerala drew 1-1 against Mahindra United in the I-League in Mumbai. Wisoot Bunpeng (29th) and Mohammad Rafi (54th) were the scorers for Viva Kerala and Mahindra United respectively. In Barasat, a double-strike by Joshimar helped Chirag United beat Salgaocar SC 2-0 and jump to the top of the table with 15 points from seven matches.
India win six medals
India won six medals, including a gold in men's kabbadi, on the penultimate day of the Asian Indoor Games. With this, India's medal tally swelled to 33 (four gold, seven silver and 22 bronze) and are now eighth in the medal table. Men's kabbadi team beat Iran 57-33 in the final. Aron de Souza won a silver in the 200m freestyle swimming. Virdhwal Khade won bronze in the same event while women's wushu earned two bronze. Pankaj Advani won bronze in English billiards.
Surjit hockey from today
The 26th Surjit hockey tournament begins on Saturday in Jalandhar without last year's runners up Javed Hockey Club, Gojra (Pakistan) due to visa denial to the the team. The tournament will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis on the recently newly laid polytan turf.
Indians crash out
Prakash Amritraj went down in the singles quarter-finals and Purav Raja lost in the doubles event at the ATP Challenger event in Chuncheon, Korea. Unseeded Prakash went down fighting to Dutch Igoi Sijsling 6-7 (5) 4-6 in the $1,00,000 hard court event. Fourth seeded pair of Purav and Sadik Kadir of Australia lost 6-3 3-6 12-14 to Latavian Andis Juska and Dmitri Sitak of Russia.
Somdev, Sanam in quarters
Somdev Devvarman and Sanam Singh entered the quarter-finals of the $50,000 Virginia National Bank ATP Challenger at Charlottesville. Third seed Somdev beat Izak Van Der Merwe of South Africa 6-2 1-6 6-2 in the second round, while Sanam defeated USA's Scoville Jenkins 1-6 7-6 (1) 6-4.
Force India face legal action
Italian wind tunnel operator Aerolab have said they were taking legal action against Force India Formula One team for serious and persistent breach of contract. The company issued a statement after media reports suggested Force India were concerned that Lotus, working closely with Aerolab's parent company Fondtech, had copied details of their 2009 car.
Bengal wrap up seven-wicket victory
Pune: Bengal defeated Maharasthra by seven wickets in their Super League match in Pune on Friday, and opening batsman Deep Dasgupta said the return of the previously banished ICL players made the difference. "Now there is a proper balance between youth and experience," he said. Dasgupta made 54 runs on the final day, while Ranadeb Bose took five wickets.
Brief scores: Maharashtra: 179 & 319 (Harshad Khadiwale 114, R Bose 5/57) lost to Bengal 325 & 175/3 (Wriddhiman Saha 59, Deep Dasgupta 54, Sajin Sureshnath 2/38).
Himachal avoid defeat
Hyderabad: Himachal narrowly avoided defeat by two wickets as Pragyan Ojha picked up a five-wicket haul for Hyderabad. Set 212 to win, Himachal opener Bhavin Thakkar was dismissed by Tirumalasetti Suman for 55, and Ojha mopped up the top order. From 97 for 2, Himachal collapsed to 125 for 8. It was left to captain Ashok Thakur and Sarandeep Singh to hold fort at 136 for 8, and lock the three points.

Tamil Nadu take three points against Railways
New Delhi: Tamil Nadu's C Ganapathi and R Jesuraj scratched their way for over an hour in the first session, but did enough to post a 10-run lead as they pocketed three points on Friday. After that, the match was reduced to batting practice for TP Singh (63 not out) and V Cheluvaraj (61 not out), the two Railways batsmen who failed in the first innings.

Gujarat thrash Orissa
Ahmedabad: Gujarat collected a bonus point as they beat Orissa by a huge margin of 159 runs. Resuming the day on 10 for 1, they lost Niranjan Behera early and after that, their second innings folded at 220. For Gujarat, Mehul Patel and Sahil Yadav got three wickets each.

Mumbai denied win
Chandigarh: Punjab debutant Gaurav Gambhir isn't going to forget his first Ranji Trophy match in a hurry. The all-rounder scored a half century and held off the opposition bowlers to deny defending champions Mumbai an outright win. Zaheer picked up four wickets in the second innings to take his match-total to seven.
