Massive win for Bulan CA, City AC snatch thriller

Bulan Cricket Academy (CA) scored an emphatic 114-run win against Ashok Malhotra Cricket Academy (AMCA) in the Priyak Memorial Sub-Junior Cricket Tournament on Tuesday. AMCA won the toss and elected to field first. Bulan CA made the most of the opportunity, registering 182 for 5 in the allotted 25 overs. Shivaji Roy top-scored for Bulan CA with 70 while Rahul Roy chipped in with 31. AMCA's Pabak Dey took 2 for 15.

The AMCA batsmen capitulated for a paltry 68 off 16.3 overs. Bulan CA's Surajit Roy led the charge, taking 2 wickets for just 7 runs.

In another match in the tournament, City AC held their nerve and snatched a 3-wicket win against Ultra Plus Balak Sangha. Rahul Gope top-scored for Ultra Plus Balak Sangha with 31 as his team was dismissed for 122 in 19.4 overs. Arka Prava (3 for 30) and Sonu Kumar (2 for 17) bowled well for City AC, and their batsmen chased down the 123-run victory target with three full overs to spare, losing seven wickets. Nirjash Dey scored 44 in City AC's successful chase. Ultra Plus Balak Sangha's Kamalendu Guha and Biswajit Das took four wickets each, but the duo's efforts weren't good enough to restrict City AC.

Bagan academy at JalpaiguriMohun Bagan Club will spread its wings to North Bengal with its academy at Jalpaiguri, to be inaugurated on November 21. The project is in association with the PC Mittal Group which is the title sponsor.

"The academy is meant for the youngsters aged between 16 and 18. It will have both residential and non-residential facilities with a fifty-fifty share between them. After a stint at the Jalpaiguri academy, the youngsters will be short-listed and will be roped in by the club or will be shifted to our Durgapur academy. Those who will be released by us can play for other clubs," Mohun Bagan secretary Anjan Mitra said.

Railway bridgeThe 32nd All India Railway Bridge Championship, organised by Metro Railway Sports Association, will be held at the Belgachia Auditorium, Metro Railway Complex from November 3 to 7. General manager, Metro Railway, VN Tripathi, will inaugurate the event.

Souvik, Moitree bag titlesSouvik Chowdhury beat Tanmoy Dey to win the men's singles title of the BM Chattoraj Memorial Table Tennis Championship here on Monday. Chowdhury won 10-12, 11-9, 11-8, 11-4, 11-9. Women's title went to Moitree Chatterjee who defeated Riya Dutta 11-7, 7-11, 11-6, 8-11, 11-3, 11-9.
