Class ApartWhen it comes to the upper crust of Hindustani classical music, then Pt Vidyadhar Vyas is a name to reckon with. With a prestigious tradition of the Gwalior Gharana and an illustrious lineage of Sangeet Maharishi Pandit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar to his background, Pt Vyas was groomed and trained in khyal, tarana and bhajan gayaki by his father, Gyanacharaya Pandit Narayanrao Vyas.

In town for the Chandigarh Sangeet Sammelan, Pt Vyas has to his credit several mehfils, international concerts, roles in major Marathi films et al. As the Executive Director of ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata, Pt Vyas has contributed to the preservation, propagation, promotion and performance of Hindustani classical music.

"This is the purpose of my musical life," he quotes, possessing qualities of all - performing artist, musicologist and administrator. From organizing music seminars, teaching at universities in country and abroad, and penning articles in music, Pt Vyas is truly a doyen of classical music.
