Newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala on Wednesday lost her cool and walked angrily towards her critics in the Central Committee of the Nepali Congress, the party she belongs to.
On seeing her charging towards parliamentary leader Ramchandra Poudel, fellow minister Umakant Choudhary rushed to pacify her. Poudel had said that Sujata's elevation as the Deputy Prime Minister was against the collective will of the party.
Members of the Central Committee criticized party chief G P Koirala, saying that he had overruled the sentiment of the party and put pressure on Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal to appoint Sujata as his deputy.
As the members began criticising Koirala and questioning Sujata's competence, the party's working president Sushil Koirala adjourned the meeting for the day.
"You have been at the helm of affairs for the past 18 years. What have you done... I have been in the post for just three days now and will show you what I can do," Sujata shouted at the top of her voice when Poudel criticised the senior Koirala for promoting his daughter.
