Punjab Chief Secretary S C Aggarwal on Friday evening visited the Punjab Biotechnology Incubator (PBTI), an important component of the Agri-Food Biotechnology Cluster being set up in Knowledge City, Sector 81, Mohali, to review the facilities available.
The Punjab government and Union Department of Biotechnology have jointly set up the quality testing and certification facilities in PBTI's transit premises in Phase-V, Mohali.
PBTI Chief Executive Officer Dr S S Marwaha briefed the chief secretary during the visit.
Dr Marwaha said that within a span of two years, PBTI has been accredited by NABL, which makes the test results of the laboratory acceptable at international level.
Chief Secretary Aggarwal also visited various laboratories of PBTI, which provide services for the analysis of pesticide residue, heavy metal, nutritional profiling, contaminants, adulterants, including melamine, dyes, food pathogens, aflatoxins and potato viruses. Aggarwal also interacted with scientists and lauded their efforts.
