Mumbai, Oct 1 (IANS) State Bank of India, the country's largest, Thursday said it has revised downwards the deposit rates by 25 basis points across all maturities effective from October 2005.
The revised rate for the minimum 15-45 day period now stands at 2.75 percent, while for the 8-10 years it stands at 7.5 percent.

Escorts sells mobile services arm
Mumbai: Escorts has sold its mobile value-added services company CellNext Solutions to communication services provider ValueFirst, the company said Thursday.
'We have a good buyer in ValueFirst and found it an appropriate opportunity to complete our planned reorientation towards core engineering businesses,' said G.B. Mathur, vice-president (law) and company secretary of Escorts Ltd.

China honours Indian IT trainer NIIT
Bangalore:To mark the 60th anniversary of China as a People's Republic, the Chinese Society of Educational Development Strategy honoured India's leading IT trainer NIIT for its contribution to the IT training industry in the mainland, the company said Thursday.
As the most influential IT training brand in China, NIIT also bagged education awards for being among the top 10 training institutes, in student placement in training industry and most influential brand in franchising, the company said in a statement.
NIIT China president Prakash Menon was presented the award in Beijing late Wednesday.

Freescale appoints Vivek Tyagi as India sales head
Bangalore: Leading chip maker Freescale Semiconductor appointed industry veteran Vivek Tyagi as head of sales in India to drive business growth in the sub-continent, the company said Thursday.
As country manager, Tyagi will lead the company's sales operations and help Freescale deepen its customer relationships.
