OPEC crude continues record-breaking climb

Vienna, July 3 (DPA) The price for crude oil produced by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) climbed to a new high above $137 Wednesday, a statement by OPEC said Thursday.

One barrel, or 159 litres, of OPEC-produced crude stood at $137.73 Wednesday, up 0.79 dollars from $136.94 on the previous day.

OPEC calculates an average basket price based on 13 important brands produced by cartel members.
