Meerut, Nov. 7 -- A perfect 10 on debut is the dream for any bowler.
This came true for Karnataka speedster Abhimanyu Mithun, who lived up to expectations and scripted an important win in the season opener. For the lanky Mithun, the last day of the four-day Elite Group 'B' tie against last year's runners-up Uttar Pradesh on Friday, brought double celebrations as he also took season's first hattrick, sending UP crashing to a 185-run defeat.
Mithun's impact was felt soon after lunch at the Bhamashah Stadium at a time when UP looked well on course for a draw. First he forced Piyush Chawla to edge into the safe hands of B. Akhil at second slip in his 16th over.
New man Mohammad Amir Khan couldn't read a perfect yorker, while R.P. Singh missed the line to see his off stump flying high in the air to complete the hattrick. Earlier, Mithun had been cracked for back-to-back boundaries by Bhuvaneshwar Kumar.
But it was the fast bowler who had the last laugh with his well-pitched deliveries.
