Jobless MBA tries to 'milk' realtor

New Delhi, Nov. 6 -- She needed money for her parents' treatment and her wedding. So she allegedly decided the easy way out. Neetu Sharma (name changed), who has a double Masters' degree in business administration and finance, tried to extort Rs 5 crore from a property dealer in east Delhi, police said. Sharma (29), daughter of a former Indian Air Force employee, was the only earning member of her family. "She recently got engaged. Her father is ailing and she needed money for his treatment," said O.P. Mishra, additional deputy commissioner of police (east). This south Delhi resident zeroed in on this particular property dealer and threatened to "get his office raided by Income Tax officials if he did not cough up the money", Mishra said. Sharma claimed she was the daughter-in-law of a politician, the police said. "She has worked for real estate companies, but was jobless for past two months." She last worked at East Delhi Mall, which she quit after problems with seniors, the police said.

Gupta informed the police and a trap was laid to apprehend Sharma. "She told Gupta that he had kept property papers of many persons for home loans and he was not releasing them," said the officer.
