Bhopal, Nov. 6 -- Communist Party of India (Marxist- Leninist) Central Secretary, KN Ramachandran has strongly condemned the act of violence and killing of innocents by the CPI (Maoist) cadre.

"We don't subscribe to their ideology of squad action, as we believe in mass movement, unlike Maoists," KN Ramachandran told Hindustan Times. Moreover, he claimed that CPI (ML) members are the naxalites in true sense.

"We're Naxalites in true sense, as our party traces its origin to legendary Naxalbari movement, which was a mass uprising and ideological struggle in real manner, unlike the ones done by Maoists at present. It's saddening that both in common parlance and in media, Maoists are being dubbed as naxalites, whereas they aren't.

Maoists themselves have clarified it and said they are 'Maoists'," he claimed. Ramachandran, who originally belonged to the CPI and later switched over to CPI (M) respectively in the late fifties and early sixties, joined the CPI (ML) during Naxalbari movement in West Bengal, when Charu Majumdar was at the helm of affairs.

"The anarchist line of Maoists is self-destructive and neither going to help people nor the Maoists to develop themselves. They have mechanically copied Chinese revolution and are influenced by Lin Bioist's left adventurist line," he criticized.

Simultaneously, Ramachandran, who is in Bhopal for his party's national conference, alleged that it was government's conspiracy both at the Centre and the states, to attack naxalites, by using action of Maoists as an alibi. "Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is doing so, to divert the attention of public from burning issues like price rise, rampant corruption at all levels, growing unemployment, land grabbing in the name of industrialization, failure of his economic policy etc and simultaneously push his IMF-based economic agenda, which we strongly oppose, as it's making way to neo-colonialism," he quipped.
