75 docs quit for security

Thu, Nov 5 01:40 PM

Jagdalpur, Nov. 4 -- All 75 doctors of the state-run Jagdalpur Medical College Hospital resigned en masse on Wednesday to protest lack of security against anti-social elements in this town in southern Chhattisgarh.

Dr K.L. Azad, who led the doctors to protest by resigning, said hoodlums had attacked medical students and doctors on October 10, when the latter were on a four-day strike demanding better security. The strike was called off after local MLA Dr Subhau Kashyap and Bastar collector S.M. Paraste assured the doctors of adequate security.
