Mohali, Nov. 2 -- Nearly 35,000 spectators filled the PCA stadium to capacity in the fourth cricket one-dayer between India and Australia here today with the Chinese women's national team also in attendance. Though the stadium was half empty initially, but it filled up within two hours of the match getting started. Being a holiday due to the birth anniversary of first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev, the crowds filled every available seat and went up in roar at the fall of every Aussie wicket. The crowd exuberance behind the sight screen, however, caused a few seconds' delay before a black cover was put on white seats at the pavilion end to ensure that batsmen had no trouble sighting the ball. The Chinese women's cricket team, which is currently honing its skills at the Punjab Cricket Association here, also caught the action. Punjab Government had brought 2,000 children from rural areas to watch the match, making it a memorable day for those who turned up. "This is the first time I am watching a match inside a cricket stadium," said Gurpreet, who had come from Patiala to watch the match.
For the Australians, Shaun Marsh comes in for Adam Vogues. The Indian captain said dew may play a big role in the evening but if the Australians can manage to put on a decent total on the board, the Indian batsmen may have an uphill task under the lights.
