Mumbai, Nov. 3 -- Two teenagers from a slum colony in Kherwadi, Bandra (E) were arrested on Monday for allegedly raping their four-year-old neighbour. The alleged rape took place around 10 pm on Sunday. One of the accused, a school dropout, took the girl to his shanty in Shantilal Compound and allegedly raped her and threatened her with dire consequences if she informed anybody about the matter. The girl, who was bleeding profusely, returned home and had a momentary spell of unconsciousness. After a while when she regained consciousness, her mother asked her who had assaulted her and that is when she pointed to the shanty of the accused. The matter was reported to the police and the school dropout arrested. It was he who led the police to the other accused, a Class 10 student. The police were skeptical about the involvement of the second accused. The exact role, if any, played by the Class 10 student was not clear as the victim had not named him. "The school dropout threatened the victim of dire consequences if she informed anybody about the incident," said Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bagade of Nirmal Nagar police station.
Santosh Bhilware, a resident of Shantilal Compound, said that there were several miscellaneous complaints against the school dropout.
