Ram Dev lays foundation stone for Yoga varsity at Houston

Giving a fillip to his efforts to put yoga on the international map, Baba Ram Dev laid the foundation stone of the first international centre of Patanjali University and Yogapeeth at Houston (USA) on Sunday. Houston is known the world over as the city of medical science and education.

The centre would have a sprawling campus to be developed on a 100-acre land and would be located in the vicinity of institutions like the NASA, St. Looks Heart Institute, University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Institute and University of Houston.

He spoke about the merits of yoga and encouraged the western medical community to look at it as a healing system. According to Patanjali Yogapeeth general secretary Acharya Bal Krishna, the centre will have a vedic gurukul, herbal garden, vanaprasth ashram, digital vedic library and museum, besides a yoga and pranayam research institute.
