A 35-year-old woman died after jumping from the 17th floor of Silver Oaks highrise apartments in Gurgaon on Monday, police said. As per preliminary investigations, Rashmi, a resident of DLF Phase-I, dropped her four-year-old son to school in the morning and then went to the high-rise Silver Oaks building apparently only to take the plunge.
"She did not appear to have visited anyone in the building so we think she went to the highrise just to commit suicide," investigating officer Abhay Singh said. "Rashmi's husband Rajesh Kumar, who runs a travel agency in Delhi, was in Jaipur on a business tour at the time of the incident and has been informed.
There appears to be some personal reason behind the act," added Singh. Police also said although Rashmi died on the spot, she fell on the building's sweeper, one Tapan Das, who suffered a fracture in his leg.
"When we searched around, we found a bunch of car keys on the 17th floor, which we tried on quite a few cars at the parking lot before coming across Rashmi's car. We got her details from the driving license and other documents in the car.
They do not seem to have any relatives here," Singh said.
