De-tox your senses

A warm namaskaram accompanied by the intoxicating aroma of lavender kicked off my Rejuve Spa experience. Soon, I was whisked away for a quick tour of this spa.

Designed to heal mind, body and soul, it features a unisex gymnasium, beauty salon, hydrotherapy, yoga sessions, colour therapy and of course, ayurvedic treatment. I learnt that I'd be thoroughly detox-ed with the spa's signature treatment - Deep Tissue Oil Massage.

My masseuse Chong Chong made me feel like a princess with the foot ritual - the traditional way to start your time in paradise. A dimly lit room with earthen diyas and flower petals topped with a wee bit of lavender and soul-touching Indian bamboo flute music transported me to a valley in the Himalayas.

The Deep Tissue Oil Massage began with detoxifying Clay Therapy, which is used to stimulate blood circulation. Warm clay was wrapped around me, the paste prepared with scented sandalwood powder, vegetable proteins, lipid, carbohydrates, vitamin E, B and B2.

The one-hour treatment exfoliates skin, cleanses the dead particles, soothes tired muscles and mobilises the knotted joints in the body. It was so relaxing I drifted off to sleep as I lay wrapped up in a warm blanket meant for drying the clay.

When I woke up, off I went for a hot bath to prepare me for the tension-knot breaking signature oil massage. Deep-tissue (oil massage) is the best way to cure any kind of back pain that we develop in a 9 to 7 job, my masseuse said.

Worked for me. The process ended with an aromatherapy facial.

Besides the Deep Tissue Oil Massage and the Clay Therapy, Rejuve also offers patented colour healing, ayurvedic treatments and crystal therapy. Made me wish, I could have lingered longer to sample a little bit of everything.

I would return, but unfortunately, the spa is open only to in-house guest and a few select members.
