THE ALLAHABAD High Court on Friday rejected the bail application of Uma Kant Yadav, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP in a case registered against him under Gangsters' Act. This order was passed by Justice AK Roopanwal after hearing counsel for the petitioner and state counsel.
An FIR was lodged by one Feroze Ahmad of Azamgarh at police station Phulpur Azamgarh last year, alleging that Uma Kant and others demolished his house by using JCB machine. The incident had rocked the state.
Immediately after the incident, Chief Minister Mayawati called Uma Kant Yadav at her residence at Lucknow. Director General of Police, UP was also summoned there.
At the CM's instance, Uma Kant Yadav was arrested by the DGP at her residence in Lucknow. Later, Uma Kant, his son Dinesh and two others were also booked under Gangsters Act.
